OUR ORIGINS

The Miller’s cheese story begins in July of 2016 when Alan and Emily were on their honeymoon in Alaska.  They toured 1 of 2 dairy farms left in the state. Because there are no large processing facilities in Alaska, both farms process their own products. The Miller’s were fascinated with the idea and started dreaming of their own processing facility at home. When they returned home, Alan started to teach himself how to make cheese on the kitchen stove using “Complete Idiot's Guide to Cheesemaking”. In 2018, the Miller’s found a semi trailer that was converted into a cheese processing facility at an auction. July of 2018, on their daughter’s first birthday, Little Red Dairy made their first batch of cheese curds in their on-farm processing facility. This inspired the Miller’s to use a picture of their daughter’s face as their logo.

Alan and Emily Miller, along with their 4 children, milk 250 cows on their family farm near Theilman, MN.  The Miller’s take great pride in exceptional animal care and comfort, as they believe that quality cheese curds start with quality milk.  In their on-farm processing facility, the Miller’s produce fresh cheese curds for local grocery stores and restaurants.
